auto-editor-export
An agent skill by WyattBlue, from WyattBlue/auto-editor. Tags: audio, cli, editing, export, video.
What it does
Export auto-editor's edit or microphone recording to a video editor (Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, ShotCut, Kdenlive), to individual clips, or to auto-editor timeline files (.v1/.v2/.v3); and import timeline/XML files to render them. Use when someone wants an editor-ready project, a preserved microphone source, split clips, or timeline files instead of a finished video.
Install
With the skills CLI, which installs into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and other agents:
npx skills add WyattBlue/auto-editor --skill auto-editor-export
Or copy the skill folder into Claude Code's skills directory by hand (~/.claude/skills for every project, or .claude/skills inside one):
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/WyattBlue/auto-editor
cp -r auto-editor/skills/auto-editor-export ~/.claude/skills/auto-editor-export
Safety box score
Grade A, minimal risk: 7 of 100 risk points, rated 2026-10-16. The grade rates what the skill and its scripts can reach on the machine of whoever installs it, across eight categories from shell execution to secrets access. How the score works.
This skill is a documentation-only wrapper for auto-editor export/import workflows. It can process local media, render timeline/XML inputs, and optionally capture microphone audio into sidecar files, but it does not ship scripts or show any networked, privileged, or secret-handling behavior.
| Category | Level | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Code & shell execution | 1 (low) | It drives the `auto-editor` CLI to render media and capture audio (for example `auto-editor :mic --export resolve`), but there are no native scripts or code-evaluation steps in the skill files. |
| Network access | 0 (none) | No runtime downloading or remote transmission is described; the only URL is a documentation reference (`https://auto-editor.com/docs/v3`). |
| Filesystem reach | 1 (low) | It writes editor outputs and sidecar files in the local working area, including `.xml`, `.fcpxml`, `.mlt`, `.kdenlive`, `.v1/.v2/.v3`, and `*_RECORDING.mka`. |
| Secrets & credentials | 0 (none) | The skill does not mention tokens, passwords, keychains, browser sessions, or `.env` files. |
| Privilege & persistence | 0 (none) | There is no sudoing, global installation, service registration, or shell/OS settings change described. |
| Instruction hijack surface | 0 (none) | The file contains normal usage examples and no prompts to skip confirmations, hide actions, or follow remote instructions. |
| Irreversible actions | 0 (none) | It produces exports locally; it does not post, deploy, publish, pay, or otherwise act on the user's behalf externally. |
| Transparency | 0 (none) | The skill is plain markdown only; there are no binaries, minified blobs, or decoded-at-runtime payloads. |
Before installing
- Check that you are comfortable with it creating local sidecar media like `*_RECORDING.mka` and timeline exports in the working directory.
- Try the export/import commands on a throwaway sample file first, especially if you plan to use `:mic` or import XML timelines.
- If you only need final renders, verify you do not accidentally invoke the timeline-export modes (`premiere`, `resolve`, `final-cut-pro`, `v1/v2/v3`).
