release-notes
An agent skill by phuryn, from phuryn/pm-skills. Tags: copy-editing, developer-tools, documents, office.
What it does
Generate user-facing release notes from tickets, PRDs, or changelogs. Creates clear, engaging summaries organized by category (new features, improvements, fixes). Use when writing release notes, creating changelogs, announcing product updates, or summarizing what shipped.
Install
With the skills CLI, which installs into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and other agents:
npx skills add phuryn/pm-skills --skill release-notes
Or copy the skill folder into Claude Code's skills directory by hand (~/.claude/skills for every project, or .claude/skills inside one):
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/phuryn/pm-skills
cp -r pm-skills/pm-execution/skills/release-notes ~/.claude/skills/release-notes
Safety box score
Grade A, minimal risk: 7 of 100 risk points, rated 2026-10-16. The grade rates what the skill and its scripts can reach on the machine of whoever installs it, across eight categories from shell execution to secrets access. How the score works.
This skill is a documentation generator: it reads tickets, PRDs, changelogs, or similar inputs and writes release notes as a markdown document. The main external reach is optional web search when a product URL is provided; otherwise it stays in the user-supplied material and workspace output.
| Category | Level | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Code & shell execution | 0 (none) | No shell commands, code execution, or native scripts are present in `SKILL.md`. |
| Network access | 1 (low) | It may use web search when a product URL is mentioned: "If they mention a product URL, use web search to understand the product and audience." |
| Filesystem reach | 1 (low) | It writes an output file in markdown form: "Save as a markdown document," which implies workspace file creation only. |
| Secrets & credentials | 0 (none) | The skill does not request tokens, passwords, `.env` files, or other credential sources. |
| Privilege & persistence | 0 (none) | There is no sudo, service registration, global install, or OS/shell configuration behavior. |
| Instruction hijack surface | 0 (none) | The file contains normal task instructions only; there is no text telling the agent to ignore rules, hide actions, or follow remote instructions. |
| Irreversible actions | 0 (none) | It produces release notes content only and does not publish, send, delete, deploy, or otherwise act on behalf of the user. |
| Transparency | 0 (none) | All shipped content is plain markdown; there are no binaries, installers, or encoded blobs. |
Before installing
- Confirm that occasional web search for product context is acceptable.
- Check where the generated markdown should be saved in your workspace.
- If release notes may include sensitive roadmap details, avoid providing public URLs or private internal changelogs.
