hallmark
An agent skill by Nutlope, from Nutlope/hallmark. Tags: audit, design, screenshots, ui-ux, web.
What it does
Anti-AI-slop design skill for greenfield pages, audits, redesigns, and design extraction from URLs or screenshots. Use when the user asks to build a new app or landing page, wants to redesign something, invokes Hallmark by name, or uses audit/redesign/study.
Install
With the skills CLI, which installs into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and other agents:
npx skills add Nutlope/hallmark --skill hallmark
Or copy the skill folder into Claude Code's skills directory by hand (~/.claude/skills for every project, or .claude/skills inside one):
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/Nutlope/hallmark
cp -r hallmark/skills/hallmark ~/.claude/skills/hallmark
Safety box score
Grade C, moderate risk: 33 of 100 risk points, rated 2026-10-05. The grade rates what the skill and its scripts can reach on the machine of whoever installs it, across eight categories from shell execution to secrets access. How the score works.
Hallmark is a design-only skill that can rewrite a project’s visual system, shared CSS, and Hallmark bookkeeping files. The main risks are repo writes, remote fetching in `study` URL mode, and a lot of its behavior living in companion rule files that were not readable in this review.
| Category | Level | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Code & shell execution | 0 (none) | No shipped scripts or code-evaluation paths were present; the files are markdown instructions and examples, not runnable tooling. |
| Network access | 2 (moderate) | `hallmark study` URL mode explicitly says it "reads the page's HTML and CSS via WebFetch," so it can fetch remote pages during a run. |
| Filesystem reach | 2 (moderate) | The skill creates and updates project files such as `.hallmark/preflight.json`, `.hallmark/log.json`, `tokens.css`, and can edit an existing global stylesheet append-only. |
| Secrets & credentials | 0 (none) | It does not ask for credentials or key files, and URL-mode study refuses auth-walled targets rather than trying to bypass them. |
| Privilege & persistence | 0 (none) | There is no sudo, service installation, global package install, or shell-startup modification in the shipped files. |
| Instruction hijack surface | 1 (low) | It deliberately hides some internal routing from the user, e.g. "The user never sees the words 'catalog' or 'custom'" and "Do not mention the fork." |
| Irreversible actions | 1 (low) | It can autonomously rewrite existing project files and maintain `.hallmark` logs, but it does not deploy, publish, pay, or delete without explicit confirmation. |
| Transparency | 3 (high) | Many core rulebooks could not be read in this review, including `references/slop-test.md`, `component-cookbook.md`, `custom-theme.md`, `study.md`, and others, so important behavior is only partially inspectable. |
Before installing
- Read `SKILL.md` plus the unread rulebooks it depends on (`slop-test.md`, `component-cookbook.md`, `custom-theme.md`, `study.md`, `typography.md`) before using it on a real repo.
- Confirm you want Hallmark to create or update `.hallmark/log.json`, `.hallmark/preflight.json`, and `tokens.css` in the project root.
- If you plan to use `study` on a URL, test it on a public page first; it will fetch remote HTML/CSS.
- Check the existing global stylesheet, because Hallmark edits it append-only rather than replacing it.
