create-prd
An agent skill by phuryn, from phuryn/pm-skills. Tags: design, documents, office.
What it does
Create a Product Requirements Document using a comprehensive 8-section template covering problem, objectives, segments, value propositions, solution, and release planning. Use when writing a PRD, documenting product requirements, preparing a feature spec, or reviewing an existing PRD.
Install
With the skills CLI, which installs into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and other agents:
npx skills add phuryn/pm-skills --skill create-prd
Or copy the skill folder into Claude Code's skills directory by hand (~/.claude/skills for every project, or .claude/skills inside one):
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/phuryn/pm-skills
cp -r pm-skills/pm-execution/skills/create-prd ~/.claude/skills/create-prd
Safety box score
Grade A, minimal risk: 7 of 100 risk points, rated 2026-10-20. The grade rates what the skill and its scripts can reach on the machine of whoever installs it, across eight categories from shell execution to secrets access. How the score works.
This skill is a documentation-only PRD writer. It reads user-provided material, may look up public web sources, and saves a markdown file in the workspace; the main risks are limited data exposure to web research and writing the generated PRD file.
| Category | Level | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Code & shell execution | 0 (none) | No shell commands, code execution, or native scripts are included; it only describes how to draft a PRD in markdown. |
| Network access | 1 (low) | It explicitly says to "Search the web for the market, competitors and alternatives" and cite sources, which can send prompt context and project details to external sites, but only for public research. |
| Filesystem reach | 1 (low) | It instructs the agent to save the result as `PRD-[product-name].md`, which writes a file in the working directory but does not call for broader filesystem access. |
| Secrets & credentials | 0 (none) | The skill does not ask for tokens, passwords, `.env` files, keychains, or other secret stores. |
| Privilege & persistence | 0 (none) | There is no sudo, service installation, shell startup edit, or other privilege-changing action. |
| Instruction hijack surface | 0 (none) | The text does not tell the agent to ignore higher-priority instructions, hide anything, or follow remote instructions; it only gives normal drafting guidance. |
| Irreversible actions | 0 (none) | It produces a PRD draft and may ask up to three clarifying questions, but it does not push, publish, pay, deploy, or delete anything. |
| Transparency | 0 (none) | The supplied file is plain markdown and there are no binaries, minified blobs, or runtime-decoded code. |
Before installing
- Confirm you are okay with the agent doing public web research for this task.
- Check that saving `PRD-[product-name].md` in the current folder is acceptable.
- If the PRD may contain sensitive product details, run it on a scratch workspace first.
