google-slides
An agent skill by cursor, from cursor/plugins. Tags: design, office, presentation, slides, visualization.
What it does
Build and edit Google Slides through the google-slides MCP tools - slides, grids of cards and columns, text boxes, shapes, images, tables, styling, layout inspection, and per-slide PNG rendering. Use when creating a deck, laying out slide elements, matching a template, or verifying how a slide looks.
Install
With the skills CLI, which installs into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and other agents:
npx skills add cursor/plugins --skill google-slides
Or copy the skill folder into Claude Code's skills directory by hand (~/.claude/skills for every project, or .claude/skills inside one):
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/cursor/plugins
cp -r plugins/third_party/google-slides/skills/google-slides ~/.claude/skills/google-slides
Safety box score
Grade B, low risk: 19 of 100 risk points, rated 2026-10-19. The grade rates what the skill and its scripts can reach on the machine of whoever installs it, across eight categories from shell execution to secrets access. How the score works.
This skill controls Google Slides and Google Drive through MCP tools, so it can create, edit, reorder, clear, delete, move, and export decks in the user's Google account. The main risks are unintended document changes and data leaving the local machine to Google; there is no local code execution or filesystem tooling in the skill itself.
| Category | Level | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Code & shell execution | 0 (none) | The skill is only a Markdown guide for MCP slide tools; it ships no shell scripts, code, `eval`, or `curl | sh` paths. |
| Network access | 2 (moderate) | It explicitly uses Google Slides/Drive tools and can export files with `google_drive_export_file`, so deck contents and notes are sent to Google services. |
| Filesystem reach | 0 (none) | There are no local paths, dotfiles, or OS file operations; the only file actions described are on remote Google Drive/Slides objects. |
| Secrets & credentials | 1 (low) | It can write to slide speaker notes via `notesPageId`/`speakerNotesObjectId`, so sensitive text could be stored in the deck, but it does not request passwords or key files. |
| Privilege & persistence | 0 (none) | No sudo, service installs, shell startup edits, or other privilege changes are present. |
| Instruction hijack surface | 0 (none) | The skill does not instruct the agent to ignore policies, hide behavior, or follow remote instructions. |
| Irreversible actions | 2 (moderate) | It can create, clear, duplicate, delete, move, and export presentations (`clear: true`, `delete_object`, `google_drive_move_or_rename`), which can make irreversible edits to a user's deck. |
| Transparency | 0 (none) | The repository contains only readable Markdown instructions; there are no binaries, installers, or decoded-at-runtime blobs. |
Before installing
- Test it on a copy or throwaway deck first; it can clear slides and delete existing elements.
- Verify the connected Google account only has access to the Drive files you expect, since it can move/rename presentations and export PDFs.
- Keep version history/backups enabled on important decks before letting it edit them.
